11 Olson Kundig Team Members Promoted to Associate

Today Olson Kundig is pleased to announce that 11 team members have been promoted to Associate: Jay Bills, Michael Cady, Brandon Crain, Marie Daskalas, Patricia Flores, Ekram Hassan, Connor Irick, Eunice Kim, Megan Marshall, Ryan Patterson, and Vaidotas Vaičiulis. These promotions recognize each individual’s leadership across internal teams and initiatives, as well as their impact on the culture of Olson Kundig and contributions to the firm’s diverse portfolio of work around the world.

Jay Bills, AIA, has worked across a wide variety of project types, including hospitality, workplace, and multi-family, with an emphasis and passion for single-family residential and interior architecture. He enjoys all phases of design and construction, as well as working closely with clients and collaborators to realize spaces that are centered in authenticity, utility, and joy.

Michael Cady, AIA, LEED AP, has a range of experience on multiple building types and scales, including building rehabilitation / renovation, retail, commercial office, education, residential, and cultural projects. His proficiency in both design and technical facets have allowed him to successfully navigate through numerous intricate and complex design challenges.

Brandon Crain, NCARB, has both design and construction experience across a variety of project types, ranging from commercial to cultural projects, with a focus on residential work. He continually seeks to elevate his work through rigorous attention to both client needs and the project context, and has been involved in internal Quality Control and Research & Development working groups.

Marie Daskalas is an interior designer whose work focuses on the firm’s single-family, multi-family, and hospitality sectors. A dedicated collaborator and mentor to her teammates at Olson Kundig, she likewise seeks to build and strengthen relationships with external partners throughout the design process, from clients and contractors to makers and tradespeople.

Patricia Flores is a dedicated project architect and project manager with a current focus on single-family residential work and a passion for designing within rural landscapes. Informed by her background in design-build environments, she is especially interested in project execution and the integration of architecture and construction processes.

Ekram Hassen, NOMA works primarily on single-family residential projects, ranging from small cabins in remote landscapes to large urban homes, which allows her to dig deeply into overarching design concepts as well as the smallest details. A champion of pro bono work within the office, she is also a people-oriented designer, fostering an engaging and collaborative process for all team members.

Connor Irick, AIA, has a range of diverse project experience, including ongoing work in the single-family residential and commercial sectors, as well as prefabricated design. Guided by previous experience in custom metal fabrication, he is especially interested in elevating accessible and equitable materials through a high level of design detail and attention to craft.

Eunice Kim is an interior designer who has worked on hospitality projects around the globe, drawing inspiration from her background in furniture design and deep appreciation for hand-crafted objects. A natural storyteller, this narrative sensitivity helps inform her work during a project’s early concept stages, as design ideas take shape within buildings and spaces.

Megan Marshall has a range of professional experience on a variety of project types, including single-family and multi-family residential, hospitality, and workplace. A detail-oriented project architect, she is an active member of an internal committee tasked with developing and implementing new design standards for the firm’s work in the hospitality and multi-family sectors.

Ryan Patterson works across several project sectors, spanning single-family residential, adaptive re-use and repositioning, retail, hospitality, and prefabricated projects, as well as design competitions. He is a strong storyteller with a focus on documenting found conditions—both rural and urban—and identifying design interventions that complement and expand this story of place.

Vaidotas Vaičiulis has experience working on a range of projects and scales, spanning cultural, residential, mixed-use buildings throughout Europe and the United States, with a current focus on luxury hospitality and private residences. Based in New York City, he especially interested in architecture with a clear design concept that responds to the unique landscape and to the specific culture of its site.
