Seattle Unity Celebrates Topping Out

2021/01/19

On Thursday, the future home of Seattle Unity celebrated its topping out, completing the structural frame of the new building. Members of Olson Kundig’s design team joined representatives from general contractor SeaBay Building Group and the Seattle Unity community in a ceremony marking the occasion.

This three-story building will be the new home for Seattle Unity, a spiritual congregation with a long history in Seattle’s South Lake Union neighborhood. The 14,500-square-foot building includes a dedicated sanctuary as well as spaces for classrooms and community gatherings, and underground parking. The second-floor sanctuary space overlooks nearby Denny Park, establishing a connection to the natural world that creates opportunity for reflection, repose and meditation.

“This is an exciting day in the life of Seattle Unity,” said Rev. Karen Lindvig, Seattle Unity’s Senior Minister. “Today we are taking another big step in the manifestation of a new building that will serve future generations in the community and the Unity movement. We are grateful for the many hands that are helping to make this dream a reality.”

We’re thrilled to join our clients and collaborators to honor this big milestone and the ongoing progression of an incredible project. This new building aims to engage the surrounding neighborhood through openness and transparency while creating safe, nurturing spaces where congregants can gather for both celebration and healing.
