Olson Kundig at Van Alen International Council Meeting

2017/05/16

Last week, Olson Kundig joined architecture and design firms from around the world for the Van Alen Institute’s 2017 International Council Meeting. Van Alen is a non-profit architectural organization dedicated to improving design in the public realm. Their International Council is a platform for exchange among leading architects, designers, developers and planners from around the world. Members meet twice annually to identify and investigate issues facing global cities, and to convene with local policymakers and researchers.

For this meeting, the Van Alen International Council assembled in Copenhagen, Denmark. Over the week-long trip, Olson Kundig designers including Owner/Principal Kevin Kudo-King and Owner/Principal Kirsten Ring Murray toured the city by bike, boat, foot and bus. This was in preparation for the capstone event, a panel discussion and design charrette titled “Drawing Intersections: Visions for Density in Architecture” where Kirsten Murray was a featured presenter. Participants discussed the role of architects in creating desirable and vibrant dense neighborhoods in Europe and beyond.
