Japanese American National Museum

Los Angeles, California

Olson Kundig led the concept design efforts to re-envision the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles, California. The institution found itself in a ten-year-old building that no longer fit the personality of the museum, nor the perception they wished to convey. Their audience feedback supported this notion. The team was instrumental in re-envisioning the permanent exhibits, finding unusual opportunities for new exhibits and integrating the disparate museum buildings into one cohesive narrative and campus.
