Kinetics Design Lead / Shop Supervisor
“What excites me most about Olson Kundig is the spirit of experimentation I see every day.”
Before joining Olson Kundig as Kinetics Design Lead / OK Works Shop Supervisor in 2017, Steve Wong spent over twenty years designing, constructing and installing architectural mechanisms and interactive museum exhibits at various scales. A licensed architect, Steve brings a deep knowledge of woodworking and craft to his kinetic design work at Olson Kundig. Steve transforms hand sketches into digital models and graphics that can then be incorporated into building models, working with design teams to ensure that mechanical features of kinetic elements are integrated seamlessly into their architectural settings. In his work as OK Works Shop Manager, Steve provides resources and support for designers to explore various craft-based processes and techniques, giving them a hands-on sense of materials and making. Steve works with designers to construct and test proof-of-concept models, as well as full-scale prototypes of architectural assemblies.
