A generalist architect with a critical eye for process, Hilary Schanck joined Olson Kundig in 2018 and was elevated to Senior Associate in 2024. Hilary’s approach is characterized by cross-disciplinary collaboration, effective management of clients and stakeholders, and placing the individual’s experience at the core of the built environment.

Across a range of project types, including residential, mixed-use, and hospitality, Hilary ensures exceptional design delivery through a refined project management style and by actively engaging her team and collaborators. Her passion for sustainable design stems from her experience working on large-scale, complex projects, focusing on balancing high performance with design. She excels in weaving the vision and input of each stakeholder into unique design solutions that resonate across the entire team.

Hilary champions mentorship at Olson Kundig and volunteers with AIA Seattle, recognizing its vital role in her professional growth and in nurturing young architects’ talents. She also values ongoing learning and received the firm’s Travel Fellowship in 2022, which allowed her to tour the six Messner Mountain Museums and hike the Italian Dolomites, deepening her understanding of how nature informs architecture and how architecture connects people, nature, and community.
