In addition to a dynamic and creative culture, Olson Kundig provides a generous benefits package that includes 16 days of paid time off, paid holidays, health plan, 401k match, bonuses, profit-sharing plans for qualified positions, a monthly travel subsidy for public transportation, and more.

International Internship Program

Founded in 1996, our International Internship Program provides six-month, paid positions to students and recent architecture graduates from around the world. Interns receive mentorship and experience on active projects, gaining experience with schematic design, AutoCAD, Revit, model making, construction documents, and presentation projects, as well as attending site visits, in-office professional development programs, and weekly design critiques. As a capstone project, each intern presents to the office on a topic of their choice, enriching us with their knowledge and life experiences. Many of our current team members—including principal/owner Kevin M. Kudo-King—started as internship program participants, while others have gone on to start their own practices and lead studios across the globe.

OKU

OKU

OK University (OKU) is our internal hub for learning, sharing, teaching, and training. With electives and courses offered throughout each month, each “course” supports team members’ ongoing learning on a variety of subjects—from how to be an effective Project Architect to project case studies sharing lessons learned. These classes are led by internal experts and external collaborators, providing another platform to share and learn from one another.

Affinity Groups

Also known as Employee Resource Groups, our Affinity Groups provide a dedicated space for team members to deepen relationships, provide support and mentorship, and impact the wider firm culture. These groups are themed around shared life experiences, allowing team members to self‑identify with communities that are personally meaningful. Affinity Groups host speakers and events for their members as well as the broader firm, and ensure historically marginalized voices are amplified.

Every Affinity Group was proposed and selected by our team members, and they are all employee-led. We currently have Affinity Groups for those who identify as Asian and Asian‑American, Black, Indigenous and People of Color, Caregivers, Latinx, LGBTQIA+, and Neurodiverse.

Community Involvement

Community service and engagement is a core tenet of our firm values, and every team member receives paid time off to volunteer. We also provide pro bono services and design development support to a range of projects, often in partnership with Sawhorse Revolution. In addition to sharing our time, every year the Olson Kundig community nominates non‑profit organizations to support through payroll deductions, with all donations matched by the firm. Since 2002 we have donated over $1,000,000 to local, national, and international organizations including Food Lifeline, Mary’s Place, Northwest Immigrant Rights Project, Planned Parenthood, Nature Conservancy, and ACLU.

Travel Fellowships

Since 2016, Olson Kundig has offered a Travel Fellowship program which funds one week of travel and research anywhere in the world. No topic is off limits, and the fellowship encourages team members to seek out and explore self-guided research topics where the knowledge gained will benefit the firm’s larger practice. Fellowship recipients have explored a wide range of places and topics, including walking Bahrain’s Perling Path, hiking the Dolomites and visiting each of the Messner Mountain Museums, photographing light and memory in Namibia, studying the ruins of fascist Rome, and more.
