This residential community in West Hollywood is a collection of eight single-family detached homes. The design weaves the new community into the surrounding context, taking into account the scale and massing of existing buildings.

Learning from their context in a historic, design-minded Hollywood neighborhood, the two-level homes utilize a material palette of stone, wood, steel and concrete. Each of the The Houses at 8899 Beverly employs a unique combination of materials. They are collectively united by a contemporary craft design aesthetic and thus function as a cohesive community. The homes engage in a dialogue between interior and exterior with outdoor living spaces, and several feature indoor/outdoor kitchens. With distant views of the Hollywood Hills, the homes connect to the larger urban context while remaining rooted in their immediate neighborhood.

While the townhomes vary in size, they average 3,000 square feet each. Varied parking solutions and entry sequences among the eight homes give a dynamic street presence, helping Rosewood integrate into its eclectic neighborhood. The project is targeting LEED® Silver certification.

These eight distinct contemporary homes are woven into the fabric of their vibrant West Hollywood neighborhood at the base of the Hollywood Hills. While each one has its own identity—just as the eclectic neighboring houses do—collectively, they are about craft and material expression. Kevin M. Kudo-King, AIA, LEED AP
